The Void, the Darkness, and the Light

The Bible opens with these profound words:

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
(Genesis 1:1–3)

Light in the Darkness - the call for global impact- The Global Mandate.

When the earth was empty, formless, and dark, God was not overwhelmed. He responded—with light. What followed was order, clarity, beauty, and goodness.

Fast-forward to 2025, and the world once again feels “without form and void.” Darkness covers nations in many shapes:

  • Africa is restless. In Kenya, Generation Z youth filled the streets with unprecedented strikes and demonstrations demanding accountability and justice. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, conflict continues to displace millions. South Sudan remains trapped in cycles of political instability and humanitarian crisis. In Angola, economic inequalities and governance challenges fuel unrest.

  • The Middle East is tense. The Israel–Palestine conflict has intensified, adding new layers of global insecurity.

  • Eastern Europe bleeds. The Russia–Ukraine war drags on with devastating human and economic costs, reshaping global alliances.

  • The Americas battle internal and external wars. Drug cartels in Mexico and across South America terrorize communities, weaken governments, and destabilize economies. Meanwhile, the United States is locked in an ongoing trade war, heightening global economic uncertainty.

  • The world at large faces unprecedented public violence, shocking assassinations like that of Charlie Kirk, and collapsing trust in institutions—even the Church has not been spared.

The earth feels void and chaotic again. But just as in Genesis—God is not taken by surprise. The Spirit is still moving, and light is still His answer, in moving over the chaos. And God is still calling forth light.

The Global Mandate Call

The Mandate We All Share

Genesis 1:27–28 reminds us:

“So God created man in his own image… male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion…”

This is our global mandate—a responsibility for all humanity, irrespective of race, color, or gender.

It calls us to:

  • Be fruitful – produce value and life.

  • Multiply – replicate goodness and transformation.

  • Replenish the earth – heal what is broken.

  • Subdue – restrain forces of destruction.

  • Have dominion – govern responsibly with justice and truth.

Above all, our actions must mirror Genesis 1:4: “And God saw the light, that it was good.”

This means our mandate is not only to survive or succeed but to ensure goodness in all we do—whether in ministry, business, governance, education, healthcare, corporate work, or community building.

Nations Under God

Unto God, For Our Nations

Some countries carry a national creed or motto pointing to divine truth:

  • Uganda: “For God and My Country”

  • United States: “One Nation Under God”

  • Dominican Republic: “Dios, Patria, Libertad” (God, Fatherland, Liberty)

  • Costa Rica: “Dios guarde la patria” (May God preserve our country)

The mandate is therefore clear: unto God and for our nations.

Our vision, mission, and strategies must not be self-centered but rooted in God’s call and aligned with the destinies of our countries.
